BIG SURPRISE RELEASE OF THE SUMMER! 24/06/09
So on August 3rd we will be releasing, in conjunction with our friends at Hassle Records, a split 7" between Rolo Tomassi and Throats. This isn't just any old 7" though - this is Rolo Tomassi covering doing a medley of 'Headclouds/Reign of Low', originally written by Throats, and Throats reworking 'I Love Turbulence', originally by Rolo Tomassi. Yep - both bands covering each other! We think this is perhaps one of the coolest things we have ever done. For real. Limited to 500 copies, 250 will be with Hassle records, in Hassle packaging and 250 with Holy Roar in Holy Roar packaging. Preorders will go up next Monday. Throatsofgold club members will get mailed the record early and will receive other bonuses.

On Saturday Ellen Holy Roar was quoted in a Guardian Guide article article on cassette tapes. We are trying to get a scan of it, but in the interim here's the online version. I also wrote an article for the Muso's Guide, which is all positive and stuff for real! I should also have an article coming up on NME.com soon and will link to it when it's up.
We here at Holy Roar have also unwittingly made summer two thousand and nine the official SUMMER OF VINYL. As well as The Ghost Of A Thousand's 'This is where the fight begins' being released on gatefold, 180 gsm white vnyl with a bonus cd of demos and rare tracks, we will also have 3 other vinyl releases out by the time September rolls around. Hopefully, if people dont piss about, i'll be able to announce them within the next week.

The Ghost of a Thousand to release 'This is where the fight begins' on LP + 9 track bonus cd on Holy Roar! 20/04/09
The title says it all. Almost. It will be out in shops September 7th, with preorders to begin a month before. Heavyweight (180gsm) white vinyl, gatefold sleeve, all new artwork and a bonus disc of 9 unreleased recordings. The care and attention to detail on this project is insane and we cant wait to get this out there. A general little round up 25/03/09,
So it's been a while since we had a general news update. So here goes!
We have so many bands touring in May that its going to be insane. Youves are out for nearly the whole month, Throats are doing a tour with Battletorn and two shows with Gallows, Brontide are out again, and a bunch of other artists are doing shows. Dates should be updated to the right not long after this news article goes up.
More general news - Throats are writing a new ep. This release will be them and them only. We are aiming for a September release. Maths should be recording their new album next month, for a tentative July/August release. We have exclusive, limited to 25, american apparel shirts for brontide and holy state coming up within a month or so. Each will be bundled with exclusive new music. Watch this space for more details.
Elsewhere the Youves cd launches May 4th. Old Blue Last is booked for that night with Tupolev Ghost and Data Select Party supporting. Sweet. There should be a t-shirt bundle with the cd, which looks incredible - wait til you see the full packaging!
Holy Roar Badges and sticker finally made and available! 09/03/09
Yeah, so even though our first release came out in about June/July 2006, it's taken us this long to make badges and a sticker! This weeks Kerrang! with lamb of God on the cover has a Holy State introducing piece. Congrats to them as the first Holy Roar band to achieve this. Other big news right now is that we are doing a stage on the Saturday night @ Great Escape Festival, Brighton, at the Revenge venue. The confirmed line up is The Ghost of a Thousand, Battletorn, Throats and Youves. THAT IS KILLER.

Holy Roar Records is looking for someone to help us out one day a week! We would like it to be Fridays, but it could be any (working) day of the week....
You should be -
- London-based. HQ Holy Roar is currently based in East Dulwich (zone 2, south east London - easy!)
- Available one day a week consistently and reliably. Non-serious excuses not accepted. i guess about 10am-6pm would be about right.
- 16 to 21 at a guess roughly. Certainly not younger and possibly not much older.
- Willing to pack CDs into envelopes and maybe put the kettle on. We are not going to lie - this will not be glamorous. You will process orders, go to the post office, online pr etc and we are based in a flat. This is not some cool office.
- Reasonably intelligent and full of enthusiasm and ideas. We really want someone who will bring ideas and suggestions to the table and will want to see good things done and implemented.
- It helps if you like at least a good bunch of Holy Roar bands!
You will get -
- Travel costs and lunch paid for, as well as much Holy Roar stuff as you can carry (once you have proven to be reliable and down for the cause!). And entry to any holy roar band gigs anywhere. This is why you must be london based - we cant do train tickets from Cardiff once a week for example!
- A bunch of fun and experience of how a small independent record label works.
- A solid reference for your CV if you are good!

- Throats got picked as one of NME's punk and metal tips for 2009 this week. "Proving once again that Holy Roar know their hardcore to an inestimable degree..." - awww, cheers NME. Who are we to disagree?
- Finally our old chums Rolo Tomassi are in Rocksound all over the issue, and in this weeks Kerrang! with a good live review. The EP we released by the band will be available once again shortly in new packaging. It's been sold out for ages.

Other big news - Mirror! Mirror! have now changed their name to Youves. This is so simple folk don't get confused, because there is an american band of the same name. We had the name first on this side of the pond though! The Youves cd will be out in late March/April, with loads of touring to follow! It should be a big, exciting year for Youves.

Another Holy Roar artist for 2009! 20/11/08
Please welcome Brontide to the Holy Roar fold. The first instrumental band on Holy Roar - expect a digital ep+potential other format in February and a bigger, more defined physical release later in the year. Whilst it is a moot point, Brontide contain ex-members of I Was A Cub Scout and Pictures. They are totally awesome dudes and we look forward to them doing tonnes in 2009. If you like Battles, Russian Circles, Don Caballero and the like you will love Brontide. But Brontide have bigger riffs.
In other news - the Rolo Tomassi CDEP will be available again shortly, watch this space. We are gonna make the packaging better again, but it will have the same tracklisting as the first reissue.

Bad News! Delay on 'Leopard' Holy Roar t-shirt! 5/11/08
Unfortunately it looks as though this t-shirt is quite complicated to print. We are looking at ways of getting this sorted asap, and we still full intend to print this tshirt and get it out there. If anyone is unhappy with the delay, please email us and let us know if you want to change your order or want a refund. Holy Roar Records in Japan! 3/11/08
Wednesday November 19th sees the first Holy Roar Records release in Japan! Entitled 'Happy Holy Roar 1.1' it is a cd update of the 'Happy Holy Roar' tape compilation we released last Christmas. I'm out on the road with Rolo Tomassi and Blood Red Shoes from Sunday so any order received after about 10am Saturday 11th October will not be posted until MONDAY 27TH OCTOBER. Ellen will still be on call on our usual email and myspace addresses...but as we live in different parts of London, and all the stock is stored with me, it's impossible for her to process orders. We hope you understand, no one will die or anything for not receiving a cd or whatever. Go and download it like a prick instead if you want to have a cry.

We are mega excited to announce that we will be releasing a mini-album by Mirror!Mirror! in Jan/Feb 2009. Also on the release agenda is a Throats / the_Network split cd in November - 3 tracks from each band. Check out the_Network, they rage hard and will be our first US band since...a long time. Thirdly there will very probably be a sweet new limited-to-500 7" by some TBC bands very soon....
In other news - Rolo Tomassi have officially signed to Hassle Records. Their debut album 'Hysterics comes out September 22nd. We've heard it - it's a monster. They go on tour the same day - with our very own Mirror!Mirror! and Throats as main support for half the tour each. See dates to the right.

Boring news 11/06/08
Literally as of 15 minutes ago the last of the pre-orders of shirts/cds for Dananananaykroyd and Maths/Throats went out. So everyone should have those by Friday/Saturday. (Most of) your patience was/is appreciated. It was the first time we had done a t-shirt/cd preorder, but it seems to have gone well, fingers crossed (i'm looking at you Royal Mail). Normal orders will resume asap. Also - there may be literally one or two Dananananaykroyd cd/tshirt deals leftover - so watch out for those on our store. I'm sure they will go fast. Dananananaykroyd were in todays NME. It's pretty sweet.

Our ongoing exclusive digital single series continues, with the brand new single 'Silicon Eyes/Wolfgang Bang' from Mirror! Mirror! Backed up by exclusive DEFN and Cutting Pink With Knives remixes - this is an awesome little release. The 7" version will follow up on Tough Love Records within the next month or two for vinyl freaks. An itunes link for it is on the 'releases' page and here
Elsewhere pre-orders for the Maths/Throats split cd and the Dananananaykroyd 'Sissy Hits' cd will start beginning of May, ready for shipping early June. Watch out for that.

More tours! New band! Other exciting stuff! 26/02/08
Firstly we are stupidly excited to announce that we will be releasing 'Sissy Hits' - the debut cd release by Dananananaykroyd. Having been fans of the band and their perfect combination of hardcore and indie for sometime, when the chance presented itself to release this little gem, it was an easy decision. The bands previous singles on Moshi Moshi and Jealous records sold out pretty fast. An early cd-r promo of 'Sissy Hits' has already received a 10/10 review on www.drownedinsound.com. Believe. Go see them on tour in March. The cd will drop late April/early May.
No sooner has Rolo Tomassi's tour with I Was A Cub Scout come to a close that the band have been confirmed for tours with Youthmovies (March) and Horse the Band (May). Sweet.
Throats have been confirmed for this years ZXZW festival in Tilburg, Holland. Cutting Pink With Knives played last year and in 2008 Throats are flying the Holy Roar flag. We are a bit happy to say the least.
Finally Cutting Pink With Knives and Rolo Tomassi have both been confirmed for the Camden Crawl and Dot to Dot festivals in April and May. Considering the predominantely indie nature of these festivals, we feel this is somewhat of a coup for the bands and Holy Roar.

Exciting Times/Sad Times 14/08/07
Good News: We are happy to announce some new releases! First up (17th Sept) is the 'St Mark/Airz' digital single from Cutting Pink With Knives. This features two exclusive tracks. Then on October 1st we will be reissuing the sold-out Rolo Tomassi ep, with two bonus tracks. Finally - in December - we will be doing our first compilation, which will also be our first tape release. It will feature rare and unreleased tracks from loads of Holy Roar artists as well as a bunch of bands we love. The tape will be limited to 100 copies. Get over to the 'releases' page for full details of all of these.
Bad News: No sooner had we signed them, November Coming Fire have split up. Gutted. The band had the following to say:
After 6 years, countless shows and tours, and three amazing releases, we have decided to call it a day on November Coming Fire.
We have spent the last six years playing with some of the best bands in the UK, and from around the world. We have always set a standard for ourselves with regards to the strongest work ethic, respect for people that we work with and the quality of the music we put out. This is something we will always be proud of.
We will, individually, be starting numerous new musical projects over the coming months, and we are all excited about the prospect of new beginnings and fresh experiences.
For those of you that know us personally, you will know how stupidly hard this has been for the four of us to actually do; NCF has been a constant in all of our lives for so long, to walk away from this is the hardest thing any of us have had to do, and we are all deeply upset that this part of our lives is over.
We would like to thank a few people that without them, NCF would not have been the amazing thing it was. We are stupidly happy to announce that November Coming Fire have joined the Holy Roar stables! Having already done an ep with In At The Deep End and an album with Reflections Records, as well as having notched up shows with Converge, Dillinger Escape Plan, Gallows, Pelican, Doomriders, Cave In, Dass Oath and millions more, this is a band with ssome serious pedigree. There are two new songs up on their myspace page which indicate the direction they are going in (these may not show up on the new album), but you can assured it will be another massive creative leap for the band, and of course the packaging will continue the Holy Roar trend of being amazing (death to downloads!). This monumental piece of work should see the light of day in February 2008. To celebrate NCF joining us they will be playing a free afternoon show at Notting Hill Arts Club with Rolo Tomassi, Cutting Pink With Knives and Fuck Buttons on Saturday 8th September, as well as Rapturefest in Reading the following day, which will feature all these bands and more. Elsewhere a pile of new distro stuff will be added v soon, and the Rolo Tomassi and Cutting Pink shirts are going stupid fast so buy now before they are gone forever!

Rolo Tomassi will be playing the Great Escape Festival in Brighton next weekend (18th May). They'll be on the Drowned in Sound stage at 7pm, along with I Was A Cubscout, The Scare and Gallows. Should be a killer show!
Also Cutting Pink With Knives have finished recording their new album so we're just waiting to get the final mastered version back. So far sounds SICK though. They have just been confirmed as playing the ZXZW festival in Holland alongside the likes of The Locust, Meneguar, The Get Hustle and loads more. SUCH a great festival, check it http://www.zxzw.nl

Gallows has been sent off to press, Chariots is going sometime this week, and Chronicles are finishing up their recording as we speak. Exact release dates and whatnot confirmed very soon. When we start taking pre-orders for these we will be finishing the current package deal for our last three releases, so if you want to get your hands on the Phoenix Bodies album, Rolo Tomassi EP and Kayo Dot/Bloody Panda split for a cheap price do it this week! We will be releasing the Gallows demos on 7"!! We are really excited and happy to be doing this for such an awesome band. The demos were recorded before the 'Orchestra of Wolves' album and include 3 different versions of tracks from there and one song not available anywhere else. We're doing a limited pressing of 500, which will come with incredible artwork and will look and sound amazing. Proper psyched for this, it should be out by the end of Jan '07.

This is what's going down... 28/11/06
We have Phoenix Bodies t-shirts and hoodies available now in the 'store' section. We only have a limited supply and they are fit so get in quick! The Chariots and Chronicles releases are moving forward, we're getting artwork finalised and Chronicles are recording the new year. MAD EXCITED FOR THOSE. We will also have a third released planned for the first half of '07 which we should hopefully be able to announce in the next few days.

Chariots - the inner life ep
- this is their final ever recordings, finally seeing the light of day. Better produced, more confident, heavier, more memorable and just 20x better than the album...this is an amazing swansong for this much underrated British band. The screamo comparisons and converge comparsions are completely redundant - this is huge, dark abrasive rock that should appeal to everyone who likes anything from Shikari to His Hero Is Gone to Circle Takes The Square to Yaphet Kotto.
Chronicles of Adam West - ep
- after thinking that we had lost them to the land of metal, we found the Chronicles wanting to come back to the holy roar lair! Tech metal/rock that will appeal as much to fans of Psyopus and Meshuggah as it will to fans of Death Metal and even fans of rolo tomassi, the murder of rosa luxemburg etcetc. We are so excited about the future of this band....as their songwriting seems to be taking in elements of so many styles and making it completely and cohesively their own.
These should both see the light of day in feb/march 2007. We would rather take our time and do things properly than rush stuff and churn out shit.
...more to be annouced as it firms up. (whisper it - involvement with cutting pink with knives, upsilon acrux and more!)
Distro Update, and all releases officially out now! 18/09/06
The store section has a lot of new stock in, including a bunch of releases from Crucificados including bits by Swarrrm, Shikari, Narcosis and Perth Express. Also the Rolo Tomassi EP hit shops last Monday and so all three releases are now officially available to buy in shops all over the place, as well as online on this site!

We finally got round to sorting out a messageboard - it's actually worthwhile, because it is collated together with a bunch of other upcoming UK labels. You can find it here. In other news, we have got absolutely loads of new stuff in the distro, including mega limited Kayo Dot vinyl of 'Dowsing...' and Municipal Waste t-shirts designed by John of Baroness amongst loads else - all good and cheap, with new stuff coming in regularly. We are pretty close to announcing some new additions to the label...watch this space and check back often!

Phoenix bodies cd looks awesome - card digipak, 16 page booklet, album mastered by scott 'pig destroyer' hull - this thing rips your face off and looks the nuts. Why haven't you ordered yours yet? A gig! Some news! 04/07/06
The Achilles gig is this Saturday at the Grosvenor, and will have a super special support act from the likes of ESQUILAX and CUTTING PINK WITH KNIVES doing some kind of tag-team thing. Should be interesting! In actual records news, the Kayo Dot/Bloody Panda split has been sent to the pressing plant, we should have the test pressings back soon. Rolo Tomassi have just had their extended EP mastered so we're going to get the CDs for that printed soon. Also their CD cases (with fancy artwork by Angelo of Raein/La Quiete) should be hitting the production line (AKA Rolo Tomassi's own fair hands) very soon. Phoenix Bodies will be getting sent off to press in the next couple of days hopefully. Everything is moving forward, it's all a bit nuts!
Football? What football? 15/06/06
Many thanks to everyone who made it down to An Albatross, we had more people in than the death metal all dayer downstairs, ha ha. Everything is moving forward with the three releases, we've let Rolo Tomassi out of the recording studio now they've finished their stuff and apparently it went well. We'll take their word for it. They and Phoenix Bodies are also featured in the latest issue of Zero Tolerance, so check that over at ztmag.com. Our next gig is going to be Achilles at the Grosvenor in Stockwell, which will include the return of Chariots. Should be ace.

If you have a gander over at the 'releases' section you'll see some nice artwork for all three releases we have coming up. We're really excited about how ace they look! We're also putting on An Albatross on sunday in London, with the return of the mighty Palehorse. We are mildly excited about this also.
